The Accounting Assistant is responsible for complete, accurate, and timely processing and payment of vendor invoices and customer billings for assigned accounts.

● Set up new vendors and / or new jobs as authorized and in accordance with Company policy and procedures, including required tax forms.
● Control and issue PO forms to project managers.
● Ensure purchases, invoices, and payments for assigned accounts are made in accordance with ● Company policies and procedures; address and elevate issues of non-compliance as needed
● Work the job file – Matching invoice against PO and receiver and verifying quantity, price, taxes, shipping cost authorization
● Enter vendor invoices in computer system to ensure timely, accurate, and complete payment.
● Resolve vendor payment issues as necessary, maintaining professional relationships with internal customers and outside vendors
● Process vendor payment checks as authorized.
● Monitor open jobs for assigned accounts to ensure timely billing.
● Ensure billing arrangements and instructions for new jobs and accounts are in compliance with contractual agreements and guidelines and Company policy
● Generate invoices in compliance with contractual agreements and guidelines and Company policy.
● Process customer payments including preparing bank deposit and posting payments to accounts receivable sub ledger.
● Research and resolve short payments and deductions.
● Work with vendors to obtain lien releases to expedite customer release of payments where applicable.
● Balance and close accounts payable and accounts receivable, reconciling to the general ledger.

Qualifications and Skills
● High school diploma or GED, though Bachelor's degree preferred
● At least 2 years relevant accounting experience in accounts payable/receivable, preferably in construction or cost accounting environment. Must have strong math skills, knowledge of accounting procedures using computerized systems and a working knowledge of the Microsoft ● Office suite of programs.
● High school or equivalent
● A minimum of 2 years accounting experience
● Experience with Quickbooks
● Proactive, independent thinker with high energy/positive attitude
