SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Development Manager/Major Gifts Officer for Planned Giving is responsible for cultivating and soliciting donors to include Covenant House in their estate plans and stewarding them through the remainder of their lives.

JOB DUTIES:
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Cultivate + Solicit. Build relationships with donors and ask them to include Covenant House in their estate plans.
Steward. Communicate with, educate, inspire and celebrate Cornerstone donors throughout the remainder of their lives.
Achieve Results. Be accountable and responsible for results in fundraising for the donors on the assigned portfolio.
Plan Events. Assist in the planning of donor receptions.
Plan and Track. Ensure that information regarding donors and prospective donors learned in the course of cultivation is added to the Team Approach database system.
Learn. Attend fundraising seminars and or trainings that are relevant to the position.
Collaborate. Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Leadership or requested by fellow members of the Covenant Community.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Personable, creative, focused and able to adapt.
Must be a team player and able to work with all levels of management.
Must be able to interact with great skill and ease with donors and board members in business and social settings.
Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and night hours as needed.
Ability to travel regularly throughout the United States.
Must have a thorough understanding of the mission of Covenant House and the work done by the agency.
Profound and demonstrated commitment to human service and social change.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree.
At least three years of fundraising or sales experience.
A demonstrated passion for CHI’s mission.
