The internships are designed for students and recent graduates looking to get hands-on experience in a fast-paced, experimental, performing arts environment. All interns have the chance to participate in structured dialogues with industry professionals. Interns have regular check-in sessions with their supervisors and receive feedback. Interns are encouraged to see dress rehearsals and performances of all festival productions.

PERFORMANCE MIX FESITVAL: 32
32nd annual festival production held at historic University Settlement on the Lower East Side, June 7 – 10, 2018 (note: NDA central office in Tribeca). New Dance Alliance’s Performance Mix Festival presents the work of over 30 dance and interdisciplinary artists annually in contexts ranging from traditional venues to site-specific installations to open-rehearsals to video screenings and artist talks. The Performance Mix Festival offers a wide range of avenues for audiences to engage in new explorations in dance, music, video and interdisciplinary performance by emerging and mid-career choreographers.
Karen Bernard’s SHOWGIRLS
This spring, Karen Bernard will be a resident artist at BkSD, Brooklyn Studios for Dance, to further develop Showgirls culminating in a performance/installation that will take place in May 17-19, 2018.
Development of Showgirls has also been made possible through E|MERGE Interdisciplinary Artist Residency at Earthdance, LiftOff Creative and Project Development Workshop, and Emily Harvey Foundation.
Kickstarter Campaign
Development of a Kickstarter Campaign, including soft launch party to support the programs of NDA will begin mid-February.

DESCRIPTION -- INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE:

Production Team & Production Assistant
There must be a full commitment for the festival week beginning Sunday June 3 through Sunday June 10, 2018. ((Please note: festival hours vary throughout the week, and interns will need to be available for both evening performances (Thurs -Fri) and day performances (Sat 9th 10am – late evening with breaks, Sun 10th 10am – 6pm with breaks), as well as tech rehearsals earlier in the week, times TBD.))
Reporting to and working closely with the Director/Curator, Production Manager, Stage Manager, and technical team. Interns will assist in various aspects of production throughout the run of the showings and festival. Interns have the opportunity to work with professional choreographers, performers, designers, stage managers, production managers, lighting/sound/video technicians. (Production interns will be noted as Production Assistants in the festival program.) Production activities include:
Production Team for Performance Mix Festival
o Assist during load-in, tech, and strike with electrics, sound, video and scenery set up and dismantling
o Assist in preparation of dressing rooms and gallery space for special events
o Assist Production Stage Managers, lighting supervisors and sound supervisors with changeovers between performances in a repertory schedule
o Act as Production Assistants to Stage Managers for individual productions, including site specific performances
o Work with festival artists on production-specific projects
o Interact with local production vendors
Production Assistant
o Flexible hours leading up to the Performance Mix Festival will begin as early as February, 2018, however there must be a full commitment for the festival week beginning Sunday June 3 through Sunday June 10, 2018. (please see scheduling note above for hours)
o All activities with Production Team during PMF
o Assist Karen Bernard during residency at BkSD – flexible hours mid-March thru performances March 17-19
o Hands-on assistance for NDA office operations and production materials
o Video and photographic capabilities a plus!

Administrative Assistant
Flexible hours leading up to the festival will begin as early as February, 2018. Interns will have complimentary access to all festival performances.
Reporting to and working closely with the Director/Curator, Administration, Publicist and Web Manager, and will work as general liaison between the artists and NDA office. Interns will have the opportunity to work with professional choreographers, performers, managers and artistic presenters. Administrative activities include:
• Assisting in the creation of festival program
• Working with the University Settlement box office staff to ensure a positive ticket pickup
• Assisting in Kickstarter campaign
• Assist NDA office daily operations

Marketing Assistant
Flexible hours leading up to the festival will begin as early as February, 2018. Interns will need to be available during some festival hours, but are not required to be present through the full festival run. Interns will have complimentary access to all festival performances.
Reporting to and working closely with the Director, Administration, Publicist, Web Manager, and Social Media Team. Interns will facilitate the presenter, press and public audience experience. Marketing activities include:
• Press/Presenter Relations
o Maintenance of all social media platforms
o Assisting Web Manager and Social Media Team
o Assisting in Kickstarter campaign
o Video and photographic capabilities a plus!
