SSI/SSDI Overview:

Within the organization PCG has a project team dedicated to providing Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation and advocacy work for low income Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and foster care agencies throughout the country. This project team is referred to as our Social Security Advocacy Management Service SSAMS team. The SSAMS team's projects include the identification, development, application and representation of and post entitlement claims at all levels of the adjudication process including attending hearings with our clients before Administrative Law Judges and SSA post entitlement work.

Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities:

PCG is seeking a child welfare SSI Disability Eligibility Analyst (DEA). He/She will be responsible to screen children in the custody of NYC Administrative Children Services (ACS) for potential SSI eligibility. He/She will also collect technical information and medical & school evidence and prepare SSI claims to be filed with SSA. He/She will need to understand or learn SSA's childhood disability criteria to enable him/her to apply analytical thinking to claims development. He/She will work closely with ACS Case workers, care providers, schools and health providers to both gain information and to provide status updates.

Specific Responsibilities:

* Request medical, physiological, school and work records.

* Identify proper forms and obtain signatures on all the required forms and documentation.

* Maintain regular contact with the client to assure customer satisfaction and to obtain updated medical and vocational information.

* Assess records and apply analytical thinking to claims development.

* Provide monthly reporting statistics to the Team Lead/Project Manager for designated area of responsibility.

* Assist the Case Writer with overall development of the Theory of the Case and with any post or pre application development.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

* Proper telephone etiquette including customer relation techniques.

* Understanding of modern office methods and practices and be efficient with computers.

* Proper usage of English language including grammar, spelling and vocabulary.

* Strong Interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish working relationships with federal, state and county agencies as well as the general public.

* Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of all materials in the work setting.

* Knowledge and understanding of SSA's medical, mental and vocational criteria's

* Knowledge and understanding of the relationship between SSI/SSDI and Medicaid/ MedicareAbility to interpret and execute requests from SSA, DDS, ODAR and State personnel.

* Ability to maintain a record keeping and follow-up system and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

* Ability to work independently, requiring minimal supervision.

Required Experience:

* A Bachelor's degree or 3 years relevant experience.

* Medical and/or Social Service background preferred.
