The Explorers Club invites you to an interactive evening of 360-degree short films about the worst diseases you’ve never heard of – disfiguring and deadly parasitic infections that wreak havoc in some of the most inaccessible regions on earth. We’ll be screening these exclusive films – produced by the HuffPost – on virtual reality (VR) headsets, meeting some real live parasitic worms, and hearing from doctors and scientists that are at the forefront of the fight against these diseases.

Last year a VR film crew from the HuffPost traveled to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Nigeria to document three diseases: Human African Trypanosomiasis, or ‘sleeping sickness’; lymphatic filariasis, aka ‘elephantiasis’; and onchocerciasis, or ‘river blindness’. The films were produced as part of the Huff Post’s Project Zero, a one-year initiative to raise awareness around neglected tropical diseases.

Date: Thursday, February 8
Time: 6:00 Reception and virtual reality screening, 7:30 pm Lecture and Q&A
General Admission: $30
