Job TitleAssistant Accounting ManagerJob Description SummaryAct as primary contact for accountants, regarding general questions or trouble-shooting issues, with the Accounting Manager as secondary contact when a resolution cannot be reached. Responsible for performing accountant responsibilities for an assigned portfolio of properties.Job Description Responsibilities Ensure team members understand client and property management goals for each property assignment; inspire collaboration between the twoEscalate issues to Accounting Manager when property management requests conflict with the Delineation of DutiesServe as a neutral escalation point for clients, property management, and accounting to mediate as neededPerform financial statement reviews of accountants work to ensure it meets quality control and audit compliance requirementsPerform regular and recurring accounting functions requiring professional competencyGenerate, review, analyze, and communicate financial data that reflects actual financial performance against approved budgetsAnalyze and/or assist with analysis of accounting transactions and auditingPrepare general ledger journal entries and analysis of accountsPrioritize and maintain organization of a high volume work load; monitor and evaluate workload of othersPrepare bank reconciliations (checking, money market, and security deposit accounts)Review invoices to ensure proper recording of accounts payable and accounts receivableCreate and distribute accurate internal and external reportsCreate and maintain computer-based account filesPrepare tenant, CAM, special reports, or other property management items, as requiredTrack and manage all aspects of broker accounts; address questions and inquiriesContribute to ideas for and execution of special projects and other department initiativesAssist with coordinating new hire trainingCoach interns, accountants, and accounting assistantsReview all team member requests for checks and wire transfers, prior to submittal for authorization and signature, to ensure appropriate supporting documentation according to company guidelines (contracts, purchase orders, and lien waivers obtained)Ensure that all wire transfers and ACH transactions are executed in an accurate and timely mannerEnsure that all financial report packages are prepared in a timely manner to meet internal and external client-driven deadlinesEnsure that report packages are accurate, complete, and consistent with clients requirementsMaintain and update all property set-up information within each accounting software systemCoordinate the transition of all accounting data and client-specific policies and procedures for new business assignmentsOrganize and lead team meetings as neededAssist Accounting Manager with goal-setting on teams to meet department objectives Requirements Bachelor's degree4+ years of accounting experience or any similar combination of education and experienceYardi, MRI, or other Real Estate software experience preferredProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteExperience handling financial reporting for multiple entitiesStrong knowledge of accounting or database software packagesAbility to analyze and problem solveEffective and efficient time management and organization skillsDetail oriented and thoroughProven record of providing excellent internal and external customer serviceExcellent oral and written communication skills Physical Requirements Involves work of a general office nature; typically includes extended periods of sitting and/or operation of a computerRegularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to write and typeAbility to speak clearly so others can understand youAbility to read and understand information and ideas presented orally and in writingAbility to communicate information and ideas in writing and orally so others will understandRegularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, graphics, and computer displays Cushman & Wakefield is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
