As copy editor and writer, you will oversee all English-language content for the site while maintaining a consistent voice and brand. Collaborating frequently with the Marketing Department, you be will be responsible for the concept and development of creative and promotional copy across artnet’s products and services. We are looking for a strong writer with a proven ability to edit feature-length texts on art and art-related products, and someone who will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, has strict attention to detail, and is digitally savvy.

You will be reporting directly to the director of content in our New York office located in the historic Woolworth Building, working together to challenge and motivate each other as artnet leads the way in the growing art industry.

Responsibilities:

-Apply The Chicago Manual of Style for all content published by artnet onsite and offsite (including, but not limited to, website content, marketing materials, and news articles)
-Maintain the artnet Manual of Style as new policies and guidelines are developed, and enforce content-related policies company-wide
-Produce promotional copy for product descriptions, client communications, and marketing campaigns
-Write feature-length texts on art-related topics and artnet products
-Schedule and oversee freelance writers
-Research and compose both short- and long-form essays on artists, movements, and media
-Field ad-hoc editorial projects as they arise
-Collaborate with the Marketing and IT departments on project-based content
-Utilize in-house CMS to organize and input daily copy
-Uphold the artnet brand and voice across all communications
-Produce internal manuals and guidelines for company-wide initiatives

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree or above in English, journalism, technical writing, or a related field
-1–3 years of relevant experience in web content management, communication, journalism, or writing-related fields
-Impeccable writing, editing, and communication skills
-Knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style
-Strong attention to detail
-Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and seamlessly switch gears to accommodate changing business needs
-Willing to manage both creative and administrative responsibilities
-Experience in or knowledge of the art world
-Knowledge of web analytics tools, HTML, online social media, and internet technology a plus
-Foreign language (French, German, or Spanish) a plus
