Position Description:

Position Summary

AIG is seeking a Head of Credit Risk Economic Research to join our Investments Credit Risk team which reports to the Chief Credit Officer (CCO) of AIG Investments. This position will be supported by one Credit Research Officer in the Enterprise Risk Management (“ERM”) Investments team and provides support to various Investments ERM teams globally.

  • Gather economic/financial data and form a basis of opinion on where the economy is headed and impact on the various Insurance and Investments portfolios.

  • Construct, evaluate and improve credit risk and macroeconomic indicators in different market segments (e.g. housing, banking, corporate, consumer credit, etc.) and countries. Provide input into the rating process for Sovereign states.

  • Monitor, analyze and comment on credit trends/events in major credit sectors.

  • Assist in the preparation of periodic strategic research presentations/reports for internal circulation.

  • Prepare and present a weekly report on macroeconomic/credit events for discussion with the various Investments Credit Risk Officers.

  • Co-ordinate and collaborate with other economic and credit researchers in both ERM and Investments.

Position Requirements:

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Minimum 10 years of economic/credit related research in increasingly important roles in a top tier financial institution.

  • Familiarity with the various information models and systems used for economic and credit analysis.

  • Excellent communication skills – proven ability to interface successfully within all levels of a large organization.

  • Proven ability to work successfully in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Strong initiative and ability to muster and organize information and people within the organization to achieve a desired objective.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, finance, accounting or related quantitative field (e.g. quantitative finance, financial engineering, etc.), or numerate subject and proven work history in a directly related research field.
