The Circulation department provides important branch functions such as library card registration and holds management. In addition to checking out and checking in materials, staff at Circulation oversee the daily fines and PVEND functions of the library and are cross trained in research library routines at the Altman Delivery Desk and assist with SIBL programming. The Information Assistant will provide reference service at the Cullman Information Desk and in SIBLA?s Electronic Information Center and has a broad role in supporting customer service in several SIBL service areas. The IA will also provide coverage for customers at multiple service points as well as assist in a variety of ways with SIBL programming. This position will act as A/V support for programs and outreach events. Under the general supervision of the Head of Access Services, a Business Library Information Assistant:Provides circulation/reference service and instruction to library patrons using print, media and computer resourcesAnswers questions from the public in person, over the telephone and electronicallyPerforms community outreach to promote and increase public participation and use of library servicesAssists in planning and delivering library programs and classesInstructs patrons on the use of the Internet, computer applications and other Library servicesAssists with fines and fees management, collection development/weeding, reserves and opening/closing proceduresEnsures patrons follow library policies and proceduresAssists with A/V and other support required to implement public programs and events.Performs other related duties as requiredSupervision of (6) CIRC pagesIn the absence of the Library Administrative Supervisor or LTA IV the IA will be charge of Circulation unit BachelorA?s degree, and relevant work experience, preferably in a large public library or research center.Successfully demonstrated public service experience with the ability to work well with a diverse patronageStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skillsSuccessfully demonstrated ability to work as part of a teamStrong organization and planning skills, including the ability to perform multiple projects or tasks simultaneouslyCustomer/ public service skillsCommunication and interpersonal skillsTeamworkOrganizational skillsStrong computer and other related technology skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerpointDemonstrated knowledge of computer services including on:line searching, social media and Library databases preferredExperience creating, conducting and/or participating in community training, programming and outreach preferredDemonstrated knowledge of library resources preferredPublic service library Light lifting (up to 15 lbs.)Sitting and standing for periods of timePushing book trucksUSD 35,123.00/Yr.USD 40,392.00/Yr.Hours:: 35 hours per week to be scheduled during branch hours: Evenings and weekends as required: Schedule subject to changeLocal 1930
