Position Description:

Position Summary

The mission of Global Business Continuity Management is to establish, support, maintain, and communicate an active enterprise-wide resiliency program that:

  • Evaluates the impact of events that may adversely affect the safety of our employees, AIG services to customers, and the value of the Firm’s assets.

  • Ensures that AIG can recover its business functions through management of people, processes, and technology to meet the firm’s responsibilities to all stakeholders

  • Complies with legal and regulatory requirements in all locations where we conduct business.

This position functions as a liaison between GBCM and the Business and Corporate groups globally. The focus is on providing detailed analysis and support in resolution of complex problems or transactions. The incumbent will work directly with the business continuity lead in providing analytics, documentation and support, specific to developing, maintaining and testing of Business Continuity Programs.

The candidate will collaborate with business managers, business continuity coordinators and infrastructure teams to identify the operations, processes and technologies required in building and maintaining optimal recovery plans.The nature of the role will require the person to be on call 7 days per week in the event of an emergency. The candidate will be expected to monitor their work e-mail during non-business hours and may occasionally be required to work on weekends.

  • Coordination and support of global AIG locations and functions to establish and test continuity plans involving all aspects of business disruption exercises and actual business disruption events which could require working non-standard work hours.
  • Ensure contingency sites and business units are in a constant state of readiness to recover applications and resume business in accordance with the SLA’s.

  • Assist with the development of Incident Management exercise, and provide feedback to be used in the post exercise review/ analysis/ debrief.

  • Support all activities necessary to enable the business to operate during a business disruption.

  • Provide guidance to business Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Business Continuity Coordinators (BCC).

  • Identify, escalate and address risks identified during the development of the BIA and Plan/Program.

  • Assist with data collection for metric reporting to senior management related to program status and risk issues.

  • Designing and testing of business continuity plans, processes and risk controls.

  • Prepare formal presentations, reports and project assignments and assemble data from multiple sources to develop and produce reports to specifically measure risks across operating business/corporate units.


Position Requirements:

The Ideal Candidate Should Have

  • 3+ years of experience in Business Continuity Management, Crisis Management, Risk Management or other relevant work experience and/or experience as AIG Business Continuity Coordinator.

  • Demonstrated technical expertise in BCP documentation, including Business Impact Analysis, Incident Management and Business Continuity planning.

  • Technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Access) and expertise with MIR3, SharePoint and Archer

  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment to meet high pressure deadlines

  • Demonstrated project management skills with effectiveness in developing tasks to achieve target dates.

  • Ability to deliver on specific project assignments, including informed recommendations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • The candidate must be well organized and have the ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.

  • Confident working as a member of a team as well as independently

  • Individual will be involved in a variety of business continuity exercises as well as actual business disruption events which may require them to work non-standard work hours. Must also be able to travel as needed to other office sites.
