Position Summary
Under direction, supports the administration of EHS regulatory and research compliance including the WCM and WCM\\-Qatar Institutional Biosafety Committees \\(IBC\\) and Radiation Safety Committees \\(RSC\\)\\. Responsible for training committee members, reviewing protocol submissions from the faculty and assigning work flows to safety advisors and serves as the liaison between the IBC/RSC and other administrative offices\\. This role also helps ensure WCM s research community is in compliance with National requirements for IBCs and RSC pertaining to laboratory research and clinical protocols\\.
Job Responsibilities
+ Assists Biological & Radiation Safety Officers with processing of IBC & RSC submissions\\. Includes determination of whether submission is to be reviewed by full committee, assigning reviewers & review of issue letters for full committee submissions\\.
+ Responsible for coordination of IBC & RSC meeting, including finalization of agenda and completion of meeting minutes\\.
+ Advises researchers & safety coordinators in preparation for IBC & RSC submissions\\. Serves as resource to both WCM and WC\\-Qatar community\\. Disseminates general information to researchers regarding status, deadlines, etc of IBC & RSC registrations\\.
+ Serves as IBC and RSC liaison, providing assistance & information to researchers and research offices with regards to IBC & RSC registration status, titles and other issues related to registration\\.
+ Maintains and coordinates EHS, IBC and RSC research compliance programs with other WCM and WCM\\-Qatar safety committees, Research Administration and employee/student health services\\.
+ Performs data management activities; maintains & updates related information systems for the IBC & RSC, creates document templates; conducts database searches\\. Coordinates biennial IBC laboratory registration and annual inspection process\\.
+ Assists BSL\\-3 Facility Manager in maintaining regulatory records for BSL\\-3/ABSL\\-3 and clinical/research laboratories, assists with the preparation of permits and/or licensing requirements\\.
+ Provides assistance and information to research administrative offices with regard to IBC/RSC registration status, registration number, and other issues related to grant processing\\.
+ Answers and screens telephone calls from both the research community and IBC / RSC members\\.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned\\.
Education
+ High School Diploma
Experience
Bachelor s Degree with three years of experience in research or academic research administration required\\. Significant work experience can substitute for a Bachelor s Degree\\.
Bachelor's degree in science or a health care related field is highly desired\\.
Comprehensive knowledge of the functions of an IBC, RSC or related research committee \\(e\\.g\\., IACUC or IRB\\) including Federal and State regulations that govern research a plus\\.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Highly service oriented with good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to develop and deliver concise documentation, presentations and trainings\\. Ability to organize and lead effective meetings\\.
+ Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications\\.
+ Demonstrated ability to organize, track, and prioritize work responsibilities and regulatory deadlines\\.
+ Capable of working independently and as a team member to develop and implement programs with EHS staff and WCMC departments\\.
