Responsibilities: Assisting the Program Department with the management of workspace and presentation programs; general administrative duties; assistance with documenting and cataloging incoming applications and artwork; maintaining artist database; supporting the Program Department with artist correspondence, site visits, and meetings as needed; and assisting with special events as they arise such as receptions, open studio events, and window and gallery exhibitions.

chashama's Program Department internships offer a supportive environment within which to to explore working with artists, audiences, and other staff. Tailored to fit each intern's unique interests, the structure of our internships is geared toward helping each of our interns gain experience in the aspects of our organization most relevant to them and their aspirations. Each internship begins with a conversation about how the internship can best serve the intern, identifying which areas an intern would most like to focus on and skills they would like to learn. This conversation is followed by intermittent check-ins throughout the internship.

Once a structure for the internship is created, interns dive into learning about the workflow of the Program Department, shadowing department staff, and training on various systems. As the internship progresses, interns are asked to actively participate in the day to day department responsibilities and potentially visit and learn about other parts of the organization (e.g. communications, special events, development, etc.). As the internship draws to a close, with the input and mentorship of the department's senior staff, interns put their newfound skills to work, taking on a project of their own - seeing it from inception to completion.

Internship Dates: May 30 - August 18th, 2017. (Application deadline May 14th)
