Position Description:

Headquartered in New York with several locations around the world, AIG Investments provides investment advisory and asset management services to AIG and its businesses. Position Summary

As a Research Analyst in our Municipal Fixed Income group, primary duties include conducting fundamental research for a portfolio of high-grade issuers across multiple sectors and geographies. Additionally, you will assist senior analysts with assigning internal credit ratings and help develop investment recommendations supported by detailed, well-articulated analysis presented to portfolio managers, traders, and risk management. The position is also responsible for maintaining credit metric data, and monitoring and assessing broad-market developments.

  • Model and explain revenue, expense, balance sheet and debt trends and projections.
  • Work across a large number of issuers/sectors in a variety of jurisdictions (domestic and some international), understand, evaluate, and test bond covenants and other important project related documents.
  • Proactively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining flexibility and a positive attitude.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with different portfolio managers, traders, and research analysts in other groups.
  • Maintain strong relationships with bankers, issuers, external counsel and other investors.

Position Requirements:

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • One to three years experience in a research capacity at a bank, institutional investment firm, rating agency or consulting firm and an interest in the financial aspects of state and local governments and infrastructure providers.
  • Ability to work both independently with individual responsibilities as well as collaboratively with research, trading and portfolio management group members.
  • Knowledge of financial statement analysis required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and demonstrated ability to effectively interact with senior management and other stakeholders. Solid track record of individual initiative is required.
  • Master’s in Public Administration or Public Policy, an MBA and/or CFA a plus.
  • Familiarity and strong proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
