Viant has an exciting opportunity in our NYC office for a high impact industry Sales Engineer to work in a cross-functional role, supporting our NYC Sales team. This Sales Engineer will be the primary technical resource for the field sales force when selling to our most strategic clients. In this dynamic role, you will be on the front lines applying your technical knowledge and industry expertise to explain how Viant's products and services can effectively meet their business goals. You will work at the intersection of Sales, Data Engineering, and Product teams to design custom solutions and lead client on-boarding.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical and communication skills, as well as digital media industry knowledge. A typical day for a Viant Sales Engineer varies from putting the finishing touches on an insights-driven analysis to leading a client integration with Viant's Data Lake Platform.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with Sales as the technical product resource to close prospective client opportunities and pitch new products to existing clients

* Speak knowledgeably about key differentiators with third party vendor technology to assist in effectively positioning Viant's offerings with clients

* Evaluate and develop solutions to integrate with first and third party client tech in support of pilot and large-scale enterprise implementations

* Maintain expert knowledge of Viant products & capabilities and how they are used to achieve client business goals to be able

* Deliver customized pre-sales technical presentations and demonstrations to clients and prospects

* Create and present custom client insights to drive further media sales within strategic accounts; based on several inputs: campaign delivery, CRM files, attribution of TV viewing, plus linked digital or offline sales transactions

* Provide client feedback to Product and Marketing teams

* Evangelize Viant's products to existing clients at field events, such as industry tradeshows, training seminars, and sales events

Competencies and Skills:

* 3+ years of relevant strategic-level experience in marketing technology deployments

* 3+ years of client-facing technical sales engineering/technical account management (e.g. product demos, pre-sales support), on-boarding

* Strong technical aptitude and data analysis skills, as well as deep knowledge of the prominent technologies within ad tech: on-boarding, DMPs, DSPs, ad serving, programmatic, data targeting

* Demonstrated strategic, consultative and analytic approach to building partnerships with clients

* Polished and professional with excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal communication skills

* Problem solving attitude, with the ability to articulate complex topics to a novice or non-technical audience, as well as translate technical advantages into business benefits

* Results-oriented, highly productive, self-starter who is able to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment

* Demonstrable understanding of database management systems (DBMS); expertise with SQL and Google BigQuery, or the ability to rapidly learn

* Proficiency in technologies and techniques which are complementary to online advertising a plus, particularly: conversion attribution, pixel tagging, display and video ad serving, etc

* Proficiency in creating Process and System diagrams at varying levels of technical detail and purpose

* Familiarity with key players in the ad tech space (LiveRamp, Adobe, Krux, etc)

* Foundational knowledge of web technologies

* Bachelors in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Business Administration or any analytical/quantitative discipline is preferred
