The Desktop Services Engineering (DSE) team is responsible for designing, deploying and administering NYPLA?s staff and public facing computing environments running Windows, macOS and iOS. The team is responsible for over 8,000 total end:points including laptops, desktops and iPads. DSE also administers and maintains the supporting server infrastructure including configuration management using Microsoft SCCM and JAMF Pro, Active Directory, anti:virus, patching, and remote administration. The team provides services such as application packaging for centralized distribution, solution design consulting and engineering level support.Deploy, and support NYPLA?s existing enterprise computing and server platforms leveraging technologies such as Active Directory, SCCM, JAMF Pro, and DirectAccess as well as related infrastructure services (DHCP, DNS).Centrally manage operating system, software and update distribution across multiple platforms.Provide technical expertise to internal and external clients.Support and improve NYPLA?s current computing infrastructure leveraging Active Directory, SCCM, vPro, DirectAccess, JAMF Pro, DNS, DHCP, etc.Package, test and deploy software and updates to NYPLA?s multiple platforms.Automate systems management and administration tasks to streamline ongoing operational tasks, including but not limited to, configuration management, file management, log management, auditing, monitoring, change tracking, and patching.Build, maintain, and support images for NYPL systems including OS, drivers and software packagesEscalation point for issues and/or end user tickets.Monitor and utilize the service desk ticketing system and system monitoring tools to resolve issues in a timely manner.We may need to call upon you for after hours/weekend response.Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or strong combination of education and work experience.3 years of experience administering enterprise class computing platform primarily built on Microsoft technologies and has conceptual knowledge of other desktop platforms (Macs and/or Chromebooks).Demonstrated ability to utilize and support highly:available infrastructure to support large (6,000+ end points) end:user community using Microsoft platform.Strong understanding of Microsoft technologies used to provide end:user computing services, including Active Directory and SCCM .Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows architecture.Strong understanding and hands:on experience centrally managing applications (packaging and deployment) and image management.Excellent planning and organization skills with ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.Excellent verbal and written communications skills.Available on:call after hours and weekends.Knowledge of underlying infrastructure components, including DHCP, DNP, Proxies, DirectAccess and Networking concepts (ACLs, Firewall, Load Balancing).Adaptable with experience deploying, and utilizing auxiliary technical components to support a large user:base, including remote management (Bomgar), Anti:Virus/Anti:Malware (McAfee, Symantec, etc.), imaging (PXE, boot disk, vPro).Experience with macOS and iOS management using JAMF Pro.Practical, hands:on, knowledge of common system operations best practices and tool sets as it relates to hardware management, automation, monitoring, business continuity/disaster recovery, and reporting.
