Bang on a Can's summer music series continues with Brooklyn-based quintet Alsarah and the Nubatones. Formed in 2010 by Sudanese-American singer, songwriter, and ethnomusicologist Alsarah, the group's self-coined "East African Retropop" sound combines original material with traditional music of central Sudan with inspiration from a collective love for Nubian music and a genuine belief that soul transcends all cultural and linguistic barriers. The concert will be held in the Noguchi Museum's outdoor sculpture garden (or in the galleries in case of rain). Free with museum admission.
